Beautiful lodge in perfect location
The place is called Stranded in Paradise and it truly is paradise. I booked in for two nights, ending up staying for nearly 2 weeks and found it very hard to leave. The owners Leanne and Angus are lovely, welcoming and helpful, the place is homely, very well looked after and the location up on a small hill overlooking the ocean is unbeatable. Tokomaru Bay is a sleepy little town with friendly people, the perfect place to relax and unwind. Go for a walk on the beautiful beach, surf the waves, go for a horse ride or just enjoy the amazing view from the verandah.
The kitchen is well equipped and spotless, so are the bathrooms with modern showers and the eco toilets. All rooms have sea views, watch the sunrise snuggled up in your comfy bed...I can highly recommend this place, no matter what time of the year. It's absolutely wonderful. Thank you so much Leanne and Angus, I will definitely come back!

This place is simply beautiful
...as the caption says, this is one of the nicest places to stay on the North Island's whole East Coast! Leanne was very nice and helpful....I came here with my girlfriend and we were lucky enough to get the shed outside the main building, which is perfect for couples as it's literally only a double bed with a wonderful view and hammocks outside.
In Summer you can have your food outside on the lovely terrace, and if you're going to stay with a tent, you're camping on a hill behind the aforementioned shed - with a view on a big part of the town's bay! The ecological toilets are suprisingly clean and the showers in very good condition as well. The only negative thing which comes to my mind is the kitchen which might be a bit small at some occasions, but since it's a very small hostel anyway, this should usually not be a problem. Can't remember how much the WiFi is (if I remember correctly it was even free) but we didn't use it anyway.
